Email notifications to a Group Distribution List bounced back when sent under external recipients

Issue

Notifications do not reach a group Distribution List (DL). The DocuShare notification email box receives a bounced back email with the message:

"Your message can’t be delivered because delivery to this address is restricted”

Possible Cause / Reason

This is a Microsoft Exchange Server security feature.  The Exchange server treats notification emails from DocuShare to Group Distribution Lists as spam/received from anonymous user.

Solution

Note:  This has to be performed by Exchange Server Administrator

Change the settings on the Exchange Server to not require that all senders are authenticated.

Warning:  Depending on the installation environment this setting may be required to meet local security policies.  The setting should not be changed without proper permission from a Network Administrator.
